The Recovery.uz data recovery laboratory in Tashkent has an anti-static ionizing system with a handheld gun. This auxiliary equipment helps control static charge when working with HDDs and sensitive components. The photos show our equipment at the laboratory workbench, not product images from a seller’s catalogue.
What is this equipment?
The system consists of a separate power unit and a handheld ionizing gun. The photos show the connecting cable and the air-line connection. An ionizer produces positive and negative ions; their interaction with a charged surface helps neutralize static charge. This is especially useful for insulating materials, from which charge cannot be effectively removed by grounding alone. Source: EOS/ESD Association — principles of electrostatic discharge control.

Why does this matter when working with HDDs?
A hard disk drive is both a mechanical assembly and an electronic device. Electrostatic discharge can damage sensitive electronic components. During diagnostics and data recovery, care is taken not to add handling-related damage to the original fault. Source: Seagate — electrostatic discharge and handling drives.
The ionizing system does not read sectors or repair heads. Its role is to help control static charge in the work area. At Recovery.uz, it is one part of the laboratory equipment used when working with storage devices.

The system’s role in the laboratory
Ionization complements other electrostatic-discharge control measures; it does not replace personnel grounding, suitable work surfaces, or careful handling of components. The presence of one ionizer alone does not demonstrate that the entire ESD-control setup is effective. This is assessed through workplace conditions and measurements. Charge neutralization should not be confused with cleaning. An ionizing gun does not replace contamination control, and it does not make ordinary compressed air suitable for work inside an HDD. The photo of an open drive is not a recommendation to direct an air stream at platters or heads; such procedures require a separate technical assessment and appropriate conditions.
This post documents real Recovery.uz equipment and its intended role. The photos do not establish a room cleanliness class, system certification, charge-neutralization time, or measured ion balance. The ionizer helps organize work with sensitive components, but it does not by itself guarantee data recovery.
